Does man need parachutes anymore? Gary Cunningham lands a wingsuit

Well the answer is yes, unless of course you have a shitload of boxes to land on and excellent wingsuit accuracy.Stuntman Gary Connery became the first person to land a wingsuit without the aid of a parachute on the 23rd of May. He jumped from a helicopter at 2400 feet a mile away from his 350 foot target of 18600 cardboard boxes set up 12 foot high and 50 foot wide.

Here is one video with a short interview with Gary at the end:

John Cleese on the 5 Factors to Make Your Life More Creative

In this excerpt from his fantastic 1991 lecture, John Cleese offers a recipe for creativity, delivered with his signature blend of cultural insight and comedic genius. Specifically, Cleese outlines “the 5 factors that you can arrange to make your lives more creative”:

The 5 Factors to Make Your Life More Creative are:

  1. Space (“You can’t become playful, and therefore creative, if you’re under your usual pressures.”)
  2. Time (“It’s not enough to create space; you have to create your space for a specific period of time.”)
  3. Time (“Giving your mind as long as possible to come up with something original,” and learning to tolerate the discomfort of pondering time and indecision.)
  4. Confidence (“Nothing will stop you being creative so effectively as the fear of making a mistake.”)
  5. Humor (“The main evolutionary significance of humor is that it gets us from the closed mode to the open mode quicker than anything else.”

In this webinar Dr Hill and Justin talk about deep blue and deep blue rub and how it can relieve muscle and joint pain through its potent anti inflammatory and analgesic effects. It really is wonderful and smells amazing!

Sinus trouble and peaceful lullabies

Well the last few days have been a bit rough, my sinuses decided to get very stuffy. This is my first head cold in about 1.5 years which quite a good run without a cold I think. I found peppermint and Melaleuca oil in the mouth and directly on the sinuses and forehead really helped with the congestion. I also layered the Breathe essential oil blend from doterra on my sinuses and forehead as well. I used the On Guard blend internally in a capsule and directly on tongue, on my chest and back, and diffused into the air. Lavender was useful for dealing with the sinus headaches. This substantially reduced the healing time I think and made the unpleasantness of the cold easier to bare. I just wish I had some rosemary oil as that combined with breathe on the sinus is supposed to be an excellent combo. I should have gone and picked some from the garden!

A few weeks ago a friend of a friend was playing piano in the Paragon resturant in Katoomba and he played La Valse D’Amelie from the movie Amelie. It was amazing to hear it live. Listen to it below.

He also played Clair de Lune by Debussy, I had a go learning it on guitar and got the basics down but have all but forgotten it by now. Better relearn it at some stage.

Two excellent songs to finish the day on I think.

Well that’s all for now… early start tomorrow!
